The Brand Alchemist’s recipe for the perfect brand

That might sound simple, but you’d be amazed how many people think a brand is nothing more than a logo and some colours! A brand is so much more than just the logo you put on it – it’s about the way you look, the way you sound, and how you make your customers feel – all wrapped up in an authentic blanket known as ‘branding’. ✨

As a Brand Alchemist, I spend most of my time helping business owners strip back everything they think they know about their business, revealing their unique inner voice and turning that into an enchanting brand that they can really be proud of. And to help you see exactly what that looks like, I wanted to share with you some of the secret ingredients that go into crafting the perfect brand for your business.

The Secret Magic Ingredients

Clarity: Before we do anything else, you need some clarity. That means you taking a step back from your business and really thinking about what you want from your business. What’s your vision for success? What does it look like for you? What do you want to be known for within your business community? And how does your current business help you to achieve that? I’ve developed a clarity kit that guides you through these thought processes, and gives us a great base to start from. Often during this stage, my clients will make changes to their core business, as they gain clarity on what they want from the future and get new ideas for growth – and we love that!

Niche: If you want to sell anything to anyone, you need to know who you’re selling to, and why they want it. This is called a ‘niche’. Many businesses will start out trying to appeal to everyone they can so that they can start making sales. And they tend to carry on with this approach until they realise it isn’t working anymore. By understanding the niche you want to sell to, you can design a brand that targets your ideal client specifically, appeals to what they want, and offers the right services to meet their needs. This makes your branding more effective, and actually increases your sales too!

Brand Values: Your brand values are at the heart of your company. They’re why you do what you do, and why you work with the clients you do. Every business has brand values, even if you haven’t written them down yet! Your brand values help us to understand who you are, and frame your brand story in a way that resonates with your target customers.

Mood Board: We love a good mood board! This is the way we tap into the core of your personality and your business. We ask you to create a Pinterest board and fill it with things you love. The more pins, the better! This gives us a place to start with the look for your business, and gives us a lot of creative information for the project as a whole.

Fonts & Colours: Consistency is key for any brand, and the most successful brands can be recognised just from their font and their signature colour. We use ideas from your mood board to establish a font and colour palette for your brand that will not only reflect you, but it will appeal to your ideal client as well.

Logo & Brand Styling: Now we get to the good stuff! I tend to come up with a couple of different logo concepts and brand style guides, each one highlighting a different element of your personality and brand. Working with you we hone in on the perfect family of logos that brings together your fonts, colours, brand icons and other graphics.

Brand Voice: You have a unique voice – so why shouldn’t your brand? Again, if you look at successful brands, they all have a very identifiable and distinctive way of speaking that helps you recognise them, even without seeing their logo. Understanding your authentic brand voice is a big part of crafting your brand identity, and it helps you really put across the mission behind your brand to those prospective clients.

Photography: You’re the passion behind the brand – so let us see your face! Professional shots of you and your business make you more identifiable, help you make more of an impact and tell the story of your brand. In a world where people buy people, showing the person behind your business is a must.

Wonder Website: And finally, you need to bring all of that together, tie it up with ribbons and pour it into a brand new website. This is where you can make the biggest impact, share all of the information about you, your products and services, and use it to attract your ideal clients.
